ISLAMABAD: A three-member ministerial committee probing the 2018 Senate elections video leak on Wednesday summoned four winning senators to ask them about their victory despite apparently lacking the required number of party votes in the polls and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) members seen in the video taking bundles of cash.
The committee comprising two ministers and an adviser, who have been tasked with ascertaining facts about the scam and forwarding recommendations to the prime minister within a month, summoned Senators Mushtaq Ahmed of the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Rubina Khalid and Behramand Tangi of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Dilawar Khan (independent).

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari has said as a guardian of universal human rights, the UN Human Rights Council must demand respect for rights and freedom of everyone including those under occupation and shun double standards based on political considerations.
Addressing the High Level Segment of 46th Human Rights Council session, Dr Mazari said that state sponsored hatred, Islamophobia and dehumanisation of the suppressed are on the rise – often in the guise of the “freedom of expression” or “secularism”. She said global human rights landscape is present bleak picture. She said, “India has exploited the pandemic to accelerate the pace of its colonisation project in occupied Jammu & Kashmir and to consolidate its illegal and unilateral actions of 5th August 2019.”
Senate election: All candidates from Punjab elected unopposed

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission Punjab on Thursday announced that all candidates for the Senate election from Punjab have been elected unopposed.
All candidates on the technocrat and general seats from Punjab have been elected unopposed, said the election commission.
The candidates were elected after all challengers withdrew their nomination papers. Today was the last day for the withdrawal of nomination papers.
The names of the candidates who have been elected from Punjab are:
Azam Nazir Tarar (PML-N)
Afnanullah Khan (PML-N)
According to the break-up, five Senators each from the PML-N and the PTI have been elected while one, Kamil Ali Agha, has been elected unopposed from the PML-Q s platform.
