LANSING, Mich. â Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel on Tuesday announced a major update to her officeâs human trafficking website.
The update includes resources and information for the general public, law enforcement and survivors of human trafficking, in addition to detailing the departmentâs efforts to prosecute human traffickers.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer had proclaimed January as Human Trafficking Awareness Month on Tuesday morning.
âAs part of our continued efforts to provide valuable information to the public, we undertook these important revisions to our human trafficking webpage,â Nessel said. âThese updates provide more detailed information on human trafficking, the important work of the Commission and our efforts to eradicate these horrible crimes.â
Governor Gretchen Whitmer proclaimed January 2021 as Human Trafficking Awareness Month in Michigan.
“Human trafficking happens to children, women and men every day in our country and around the world,” said Governor Whitmer. “It is often a hidden crime that can take different forms including sex trafficking, forced labor and almost always involves the exploitation of our most vulnerable. I hope this month serves as a reminder and opportunity for each of us to learn about prevention efforts and ways to support survivors and their families. If you see something, speak up and contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 888-373-7888. Your call could save a life.”
–January 2021 is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and to assist the community to learn more about this tragic criminal enterprise, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office and Cal Poly’s California Cybersecurity Institute have teamed up to offer free online presentations to the community on Jan. 19 & 20 from 11 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. each day.
These presentations will bring a variety of local experts together to offer information on human trafficking as well as resources for victims and survivors.
“Human Trafficking is modern-day slavery right here and we must do everything we can to eliminate it from our community,” said Dan Dow, District Attorney. “Our SLO County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force is making a significant impact in reducing the occurrence in our county and I am grateful for the great partnerships we have. Please join our virtual forum to learn more.”

“If you are a stranger to prayer, you are a stranger to the greatest source of power known to human beings,” Billy Sunday.
As 2021 arrives, it’s great to see so many people so motivated. With the turn of a calendar page, many are ready to crush their bad habits, and many Christians are preparing to renew their relationship with the Lord. But the month of January is more than just a time to restart motivation.
No, it’s even more significant. It’s Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and there is much to be done on its behalf.
