Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., a top critic of President Trump, gave the administration praise as a second COVID-19 vaccine tied to Operation Warp Speed is expected to receive emergency use authorization from the FDA. The Warp Speed project appears to be a dramatic success, Durbin said on the Senate floor on Thursday. I pray that it will be. Although I’ve been a frequent critic of this administration, I want to give them credit for organizing this effectively, and delivering a vaccine in a timely way, almost amazing timely way in this pandemic that we face.

NEW YORK (AP) Snow continued to fall Thursday during a key period in the coronavirus pandemic, days after the start of the U.S. vaccination campaign and in the thick of a virus surge that has throngs of people seeking tests daily.
Snow fell from northern Virginia to parts of New England on Wednesday. It carried on north into the evening, sustaining a storm that was poised to drop as much as 2 feet (0.6 meters) of snow in some places by Thursday.

BENNINGTON â Vaccinations against COVID-19 got under way in Bennington County on Wednesday, with 75 healthcare workers at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center expected to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine by the end of the evening.
Dr. Ann Marie Swann received the very first dose, at about 11 a.m. The vaccine was administered by Melissa Goldstein, RN and clinical education specialist. It didn t even hurt! Swann said immediately after receiving her shot.
Swann was followed by Patricia Johnson, RN, a nurse in the Emergency Department. Both work directly with COVID-19 patients, and volunteered to be the first to receive the vaccine. Forty-three additional healthcare workers, who also work directly with COVID-19 patients, followed, and thirty more were expected to receive the vaccine last night.

Pfizer Inc. pushed back on claims it is experiencing problems producing its COVID-19 vaccine, as the company and the federal government continued to try to reach a deal that would eventually double the number of doses available for the U.S.âs vast immunization effort.
Moncef Slaoui, the chief scientific adviser to Operation Warp Speed, said in an interview on Thursday that the U.S. is close to a deal for another 100 million doses of the vaccine Pfizer developed in partnership with BioNTech SE. Through the agreement, Pfizer would deliver the additional supply in the second quarter of 2021, Slaoui said.
