Efforts to help cats find homes earns Dexter teen Humane Youth Award Updated Dec 23, 2020; ANN ARBOR, MI – A Dexter teen with a big heart for cats in need of loving homes is being recognized for her efforts to help get them adopted. Audrey Hudson, 16, is the winner of the third-annual Humane Youth Award from the Humane Society of Huron Valley. First and second runners up are South Lyon teens Matt Rummer and Simon Bunin, respectively. “I was completely shocked when I was told I won,” said Hudson, who volunteers at the humane society’s Tiny Lions Lounge and Adoption Center. “I always wanted to volunteer at the café and it took forever for me to get in since it’s so popular. But every day I’ve been there has been a blessing. I love being with the cats and helping them find the right home.”
