Stories Children in Yemen Suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition
As the conflict in Yemen continues, many parents are having to witness their children wasting away, unable to do anything about it.
Children in Yemen Are Facing Malnutrition and Starvation
Amidst the world s largest humanitarian crisis, Yemen is now facing an 81% reduction in healthcare services for children due to COVID-19 and a lack of funding. With tens of thousands of children already missing out on life-saving treatment for severe malnutrition, the pandemic has only lead to further shortages in critical care.
Airstrikes continue, marking just one more way that Yemeni children are paying with their lives in a crisis they have no part in creating. “For every child killed by bombs and bullets, dozens are starving to death and it’s entirely preventable,” Tamer Kirolos, Save the Children’s Country Director in Yemen, said.
