Drunk-driving suspect charged in fatal crash with animal control officer heads to trial Updated 10:29 AM; MONROE COUNTY, MI – A woman accused of driving drunk and crashing into an on-duty animal control officer who died of her injuries is heading to trial for murder. Michele Anne Dropulich waived her May 11 preliminary examination before District Judge William Nichols, sending her case to circuit court for trial, court records show. Dropulich, 48, of Hudson, is charged with one felony count each of second-degree murder, operating while intoxicated causing death and reckless driving causing death. She’s accused of driving under the influence and speeding through a red light the morning of June 4, 2020, at Raisinville Road and M-50 in Monroe Township where she crashed into a marked Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control vehicle, according to Michigan State Police.

Michele Anne Dropulich was arrested Dec. 11 by state police troopers and was arraigned Saturday, Dec. 12 on the murder charge as well as operating while intoxicated causing death and reckless driving causing death. Her vehicle crashed into a marked Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control vehicle, fatally injuring 24-year-old Darrian Young. Young died two days later.
