Milwaukie has been named Oregon s Tree City of the Year for 2021, an award commending the city for the top commitment to its urban forest among communities statewide.
Oregon Community Trees President Samantha Wolf said the award is intended to highlight a city for delivering the best urban forestry practices to its residents, and each year OCT partners with Oregon Department of Forestry officials to select one of Oregon s nationally recognized Tree City USA cities for special accolades.

HANFORD â  At 11 a.m. Friday, the City of Hanford will celebrate Arbor Day by dedicating and the planting the Cityâs official Christmas tree. The twenty-five-foot Aptos Blue Coastal Redwood will be planted within Hanfordâs historic Civic Park adjacent to iconic Civic Auditorium.
While Spring has just arrived, itâs not too early to plan for the holidays, local officials say. The City is planning for something special at Civic Park that will attract local and regional attention this holiday season. More details will be announced later this summer, according to a release. Â
In addition to the new Christmas tree, community volunteers will be planting eight new trees within the park. Since 2015, the City of Hanford has achieved Tree City USA status by meeting four core standards of sound urban forestry management: maintaining a tree board or Parks and Recreation Commission, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2
Tres Rios River Cleanup
Avondale Parks & Recreation invites the public to help heal the river by taking part in a river cleanup event Saturday, April 17. Come help preserve the heritage, wildlife and natural beauty of the Gila, Salt and Agua Fria rivers. The event is hosted at the Tres Rios riparian area in Avondale. The cleanup runs from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Volunteers should park in the north parking lot next to Phoenix Raceway (7602 Jimmie Johnson Drive, Avondale). Sign up at
