Indiana reported 1,733 additional cases of COVID-19 Monday and an additional 16 deaths, as the state continues to see the virus loosen its hold.
The new cases bring the totals since the start of the pandemic to 628,391 cases and 9,613 deaths.
Monday’s daily caseload was the lowest number reported in a single day since the middle of October. Positivity rates also continue to fall for the state.
Testing, however, is also on the decline. The seven-day moving average for daily tests is now just under 39,000.
Meanwhile, more than half a million people in Indiana had received their first vaccine dose by Monday. Indiana has now invited anyone age 65 and older to register.

Indiana reported 3,733 new COVID-19 cases Thursday and an additional 64 deaths, as the state crossed 600,000 cases since the start of the pandemic.
For the past 10 days, the state has seen the seven-day average for new cases fall, suggesting that the virus may be not spreading as successfully as it had in the past.
The decreases follow the state’s decision at the end of December to change the way it calculates advisory levels, which left more counties facing the strictest level of restrictions. These include limiting social gatherings to 25, encouraging curbside pickup for businesses, and limiting senior center activities.
