INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) A 38-year-old man has been jailed in northwestern Arkansas in connection to the death of a 24-year-old woman found dead Saturday in Indianapolis, police said.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to check the welfare of a person just before 5 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 6800 block of Mimosa Lane. That’s in Bloomfield Lake Estates subdivision, located south of the I-74 interchange at Acton Road on the city’s southeast side.
The officers found Karen Melissa Hernandez inside a house with apparent trauma, and medics determined she was dead. The Marion County Coroner’s Office said Hernandez died from multiple gunshot wounds.

UPDATE: A 38-year-old was arrested in Arkansas in connection with a Saturday killing on Mimosa Lane, police said.
Gabriel Galvez was taken into custody in Randolph County, Arkansas by that state’s police, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Indianapolis homicide detectives are going to Arkansas for follow-up on the case.
The victim was identified as 24-year-old Karen Galvez Hernandez. The Marion County Coroner s Office said she died from multiple gunshot wounds.

INDIANAPOLIS IMPD is investigating the death of a man at an east side apartment complex Saturday night.
Officers responded to a call for a welfare check in the 200 block of North Shortridge Road around 8:30 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a man unresponsive inside an apartment. Medics were called and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The Marion County Coroner s Office identified the victim as 25-year-old Derell Brown. He died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen and his death was ruled a homicide.

Indianapolis police are investigating an early Monday shooting that left one man dead on the east side.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the area of East 30th Street and North German Church Road on a report of a person shot shortly after 2 a.m., police said.
