The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) says it is the national competition of the best practices on survival and resilience in the new normal of micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME). Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III emphasized the role of business continuity plans and productivity improvement programs in the economic resilience of the country. He also encouraged MSMEs to participate in the search. “These are the best practices that the 2021 Productivity Olympics will look for in selecting the national winners. It will recognize MSMEs that were able to continue business operations, kept their employees engaged and committed to their business goals, and preserved employment amid the pandemic,” Bello said.

RTWPB-Western Visayas to act on wage determination

April 25, 2021 THE Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Western Visayas will initiate action on wage determination by motu proprio, one of its members said. Wennie Sancho, labor representative to the RTWPB-Western Visayas, said the move is backed by a resolution unanimously approved by the Board during its regular meeting on April 23. Sancho said it must be recalled that in their last April 8 meeting, the two management representatives, Luis Estrella and Reynaldo Ambao, manifested their disapproval of the manifestation of the labor sector for a P20 to P25 per day Pandemic Emergency Relief Allowance (Pera) as an immediate economic relief amid the pandemic.
