A 19-year-old from Delano is charged with criminal vehicular homicide in the crash, which killed a 65-year-old local man and his dog on Wednesday, April 28, at County Road 24 and 32nd Avenue North.
Per WCCO, the charges say the suspect, Jack Henry Blaschke, was street-racing another car and going 70 mph in a 45 mph zone when he fatally struck Gregory M. Schneider, who was attempting to cross the road with his black Labrador at the time.
Blaschke later told investigators that he panicked after the collision and drove to a friend s house, the station says.

The Hennepin County Board of Commissioners could vote next week to increase the minimum wage for county employees from $15 to $20.
Hennepin County Board Chair Marion Greene introduced the measure Tuesday, which passed unanimously out of committee. It now heads to the full board for a vote.
If passed at the Board’s Tuesday meeting, the new minimum wage would go into effect on March 28. The last minimum wage increase for county employees was five years ago.
Greene cited the impact of low wages on people of color, women and people with disabilities.

A Minneapolis man has been charged in a fatal shooting near 38th Street and Chicago Avenue in south Minneapolis, home to a memorial to George Floyd.
Shantaello Christianson, 31, was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree riot causing death and prohibited possession of a firearm, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office announced Monday.
Christianson allegedly shot Imaz Wright of Minneapolis in a gang dispute on March 6.
According to the criminal complaint, Wright was standing outside Cup Foods at George Floyd Square when Christianson drove up in an SUV alongside his wife and wife’s cousin. Christianson and Wright, both members of the Rolling 30’s Bloods gang, were on opposite sides of a dispute.
