DULUTH A Duluth man has been arrested and is awaiting formal second-degree murder charges in the death of a 3-year-old child.
Jordan William Carter, 30, was taken into custody by Duluth police for charges relating to the child s death.
Officers responded to the scene of an unresponsive child on Sept. 4. According to a report from the Duluth Police Department, the child was immediately taken to a hospital but, due to the severity of injuries, was transported to the Children s Minnesota hospital in Minneapolis. Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and the child was pronounced dead on Sept. 6.

According to a report from the Duluth Police Department, the child was immediately taken to a hospital, but due to the severity of injuries, the child was transported to the Children s Minnesota hospital in Minneapolis. Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and the child was pronounced dead on Sept. 6 at 1:48 p.m.

Jordan William Carter of Duluth has been charged with second-degree murder after his fiance s 3-year-old son died in September.
Although Carter offered other explanations for the boy s condition, doctors who examined the child at Essentia and Children s Hospital were concerned that his injuries were more consistent with child abuse.
Health professionals noted bruising on the left side of the 3-year-old s face, ear and hip, along with circular bruising to his left forearm concerning for a grip mark, and several bruises on his back and shins.
The boy was also suffering from a traumatic brain injury. There was hemorrhaging in his brain and retinas and internal abdominal injuries.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Duluth 3-year-old s death.
Duluth Police say he is awaiting charges of second-degree murder.
On Sept. 4, officers were called to the 4700 block of Colorado St. for an unresponsive child. The child was taken to a Duluth hospital then to Children s Minnesota in Minneapolis. The child was pronounced dead on Sept. 6. Based upon the suspicious nature of the child s injuries, the Duluth Police Department Sex Crimes Child Neglect Unit and Violent Crimes Unit immediately began in investigation, a press release said. Investigators learned the child was in the care of the mother s fiance at the time of injury.
