MINNEAPOLIS A Rochester man facing charges relating to arson during George Floyd protests last year pleaded to a lesser charge.
Junior Gray Smith, 24, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor violating emergency powers curfew, according to court documents filed Thursday in Hennepin County District Court.
Smith was sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation with a suspended 90-day jail sentence and court costs of $78. He was originally charged with felony riot while armed with a dangerous weapon.
Morries Lester Hall, 42, was in the car with George Floyd, 46, on the day of his death and vowed to speak up for his friend, but on Wednesday night announced that he would not testify.
