Waters, a frequent critic of law enforcement, called Fox News s report detailing her request for accompaniment from U.S. marshals as she traveled to Minneapolis to attend the trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin an absolute lie. I have never requested law enforcement protection on my flights. Deceitful, lying Fox News must be stopped, she continued.

Author: Hennepin County Jail The trial for the three other former officers charged in connection toGeorge Floyd s death will be delayed until 2022, a judge ruled Thursday.  Hennepin County District Court Judge Peter Cahill delayed the trial for Thomas Lane, Tou Thao and J. Alexander Kueng until March 7, 2022. The three officers are each charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter. They were scheduled to go to trial in August.

Jerome A. Woodland, 53, was charged in Hennepin County District Court with one count of second-degree murder without intent in the April 7 death of Nikkiyia S. Robinson. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner s Office ruled that Robinson, 38, of Minneapolis, died of a stab wound to the chest. The charges against Woodland did not cite a motive for the attack or note how they knew each other.

Judge will consider longer prison sentence for Derek Chauvin The judge ruled there were aggravating factors in Floyd s death. Author: A Hennepin County District Court judge found aggravating factors that would support a tougher sentence for Derek Chauvin in the murder of George Floyd.  Judge Peter Cahill wrote in a court filing made public Wednesday that Chauvin abused his position of trust and authority when he restrained Floyd on the ground for several minutes.  Cahill said other aggravating factors were proven beyond a reasonable doubt, including: Chauvin treated Floyd with particular cruelty, citing Floyd being unable to breathe and his slow death ; there were children present at the time; and Chauvin committed the crime as a group, citing the other now-former Minneapolis police officers charged in Floyd s death.
