MINNEAPOLIS Two people have been charged in separate homicides last week – a deadly shooting and a fatal stabbing – in north Minneapolis.
According to the Hennepin County Attorney s Office, Prince Brown was charged with second-degree unintentional murder in a deadly shooting that occurred on Thursday, Jan. 21, and Angelique Simons was charged with two counts of second-degree murder in a stabbing death on Friday, Jan. 22. Both are expected to make their first court appearances on Tuesday, Jan. 26.

A new initiative aims to reduce stark racial disparities in the thousands of cases heard in Hennepin County s juvenile justice system each year.
Advocates say the measure is warranted and overdue: In 2018, nearly 75% of the 5,500 juvenile crime cases sent to the Hennepin County Attorney s Office for review involved youth of color. Black youth, who made up 61% of the cases prosecuted, accounted for only 22% of the county population of 10- to 17-year-olds.
5 Minneapolis Police officers fired weapons in shooting that injured man

According to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the officers have been put on standard administrative leave.
Suspect injured in gunfire exchange with Minneapolis police
Police say a suspect was injured during an exchange of gunfire with officers in Minneapolis early Thursday morning.
The officers were identified as the following:
Officer Felix Alvarado has been with the Minneapolis Police Department for four years. He discharged his firearm.
Officer Cory Krautkramer has been with the department for seven years. He discharged his firearm.
Defense files motion to confirm George Floyd s medical records weren t tampered with

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - One of the former Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of George Floyd is asking the court to release details of Floyd’s medical records to see if there was any tampering.
Last fall, several Hennepin Healthcare employees were fired after they inappropriately accessed Floyd’s medical records. In a motion filed Wednesday, attorneys representing Tou Thao said they have not received a list of the employees who fired or reprimanded nor confirmation that Floyd’s medical records were not tampered with after his death.
Three teens charged in Minneapolis robberies

Three juveniles have been charged with two early morning robberies in Minneapolis.
According to a Wednesday announcement from the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, Damonie Adams, 17, was charged by petition with first degree-robbery in the first case. Demod McGruder, 16, and Kavon Wilson-Branch, 17, were both charged by petition with first-degree robbery in the second case. Prosecutors are seeking to have the three certified as adults.
Charges against a fourth juvenile in relation to the incidents have been deferred, pending further investigation.
On Saturday at around 3:45 a.m., the juveniles drove to the 2600 block of Pillsbury Avenue South, according to the petitions. They approached a man sitting in his car, and Adams pointed a gun at him and told him to open the door.
