Crews search for person in Mississippi River in Minneapolis The fire department lost visual of the person Thursday evening. Author: Officials have been searching the Mississippi River in Minneapolis since Thursday evening after a person jumped into the river. According to tweets from the Minneapolis Fire Department, fire crews responded to the river between Lowery Avenue North and Broadway Street Northeast around 6:35 p.m. Fire crews had eyes on the victim in the water and launched a boat to try to reach and retrieve them, while others on the shore tracked the victim until they could be rescued.  Hennepin County Sheriff s Office Water Patrol also responded to the scene to help search, moving the search to between the Broadway Street Northeast and Plymouth Avenue North bridges, a 7:03 p.m. tweet said.
