(OLNEY) Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney has announced that it received its first allocation of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine this past Wednesday and began vaccinating the first round of front line healthcare workers that same day. More front line healthcare workers will receive the vaccine as it becomes more readily available. Carle RMH serves as the downstate Region 6 Regional Hospital Coordinating Center and directs vaccines to healthcare providers based on guidance from state public health officials. CRMH, along with many other downstate health facilities, were high on the list to receive the COVID-19 vaccin because Richland and other surrounding counties are among the fifty (50) counties with the highest coronavirus death and case rates in Illinois.
