Judge allows CMP discrimination case to proceed © Provided by WMTW Portland ME cmp building A judge has denied Central Maine Power’s motion to dismiss a disability and discrimination case over smart meters, allowing it to proceed in court. Ed Friedman, of Bowdoinham, filed the suit in July 2020, claiming CMP was discriminating against people whose conditions may be worsened by the radiation emitted from smart meters by charging a fee to opt out of them and use an analog meter instead. Friedman’s lawyers say he has lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, an incurable form of cancer, and that his doctor recommends he shouldn’t be exposed to any excess radiation in his home. Gonzales | Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin PHILADELPHIA – A Delaware County attorney of more than 40 years who returned to his duties as a public defender after suffering a stroke, says he was fired from his role this year due to his age and disability. Leigh B. Bechtle first filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on Nov. 19 versus Delaware County, of Media. Born in 1949 and after a successful tour of duty in the U.S. Navy, Bechtle said he graduated cum laude from Ohio University and earned his law degree from Widener University School of Law. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar I 1979.
