SPRINGFIELD – Soup up your Souper Bowl party with fresh soups and chili to go, made from scratch by Catholic Charities St. John’s Breadline on Friday, February 5 at the Catholic Pastoral Center circle driveway in Springfield, 1615 W. Washington, from 4PM-6PM, or until we are sold out of soup.
Chili, chicken noodle, and vegetable beef soups will be available. Suggested donation is $5 for 32 oz. of soup. All proceeds will benefit the St. John’s Breadline.
“We have such a caring community of people who support the St. John’s Breadline. Despite cold temperatures on Friday (Jan.29th) more than 150 students and other lay Catholics from across the Diocese of Springfield hit the streets of Downtown Springfield to march for life, mirroring the annual National March for Life that took place the same day in Washington, D.C.
Bishop Thomas John Paprocki led the group in peacefully praying the rosary for an end to abortion.
The marchers swept past the Statehouse, the Illinois Supreme Court Building, and the Governor’s Mansion praying and making their voices heard for the unborn. This year marked the 48

Fort Worth, Texas, Feb 7, 2020 / 11:16 am (CNA).- An appeals court heard arguments Tuesday regarding the medical treatment of a terminally ill child in Fort Worth, and whether a law regarding the dispute resolution process is constitutional.
Tinslee Lewis was born prematurely Feb. 1, 2019, and has since been in the cardiac intensive care unit at Cook Children’s Medical Center.
Physicians at the hospital believe life-sustaining treatment for Lewis is medically inappropriate, a decision affirmed by an ethics committee. Lewis’ mother, Trinity, wants treatment to continue, and has gone to court to prevent the life-sustaining treatment from being withdrawn.
The Texas Advance Directives Act allows physicians and health care facilities to withdraw life-sustaining treatment considered medically inappropriate after 10 days.
