KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 4): Bursa Malaysia opened broadly lower today, in tandem with its regional peers as heightened COVID-19 cases weighed on sentiment.
At 9.05 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) erased 5.66 points to 1,494.6 from Tuesday’s close of 1,500.26.
The index opened 2.98 points weaker at 1,497.28.
The overall market breadth was negative with decliners hammering gainers 391 versus 63, while 201 counters were unchanged, 1,537 untraded and nine others suspended.
Turnover stood at 231.23 million units worth RM96.51 million.
A dealer said Asian stocks tumbled on worries over the Delta variant’s rapid spread, killing hopes for economic recoveries.
Meanwhile, Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd said the entry of two more states and a federal territory Perlis, Sarawak and Labuan into phase three of the National Recovery Plan starting today, coupled with the earnings season, might lift market sentiment.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 ― Bursa Malaysia opened higher today as investors digested the spillover of overnight US market which was mixed with the Nasdaq rallying while the Dow falling amid a slew of corporate earnings.
The US stocks and government bond prices rallied yesterday after the Federal Reserve acknowledged improvements in the US economy at its latest meeting while opting to keep its current policy stance unchanged, a dealer said.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 ― Bursa Malaysia opened lower today, taking the cue from the overnight fall on Wall Street after tech-heavy benchmark dipped to two-and-a-half month low as worries over a regulatory clampdown by Beijing swept into US markets, a dealer said.
At 9.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 2.91 points easier at 1,511.69 from yesterday’s close of 1,514.60.
The index opened 3.14 points lower at 1,511.46.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 Bursa Malaysia opened higher today, tracking the modest gains of regional peers, a dealer said.
At 9.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 3.98 points better at 1,516.51 from Monday’s close of 1,512.53.
The index opened 3.2 points higher at 1,524.47.
On the broader market, gainers led losers at 211 versus 151, while 238 counters were unchanged, 1,626 untraded and 30 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 273.93 million units worth RM108.76 million.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 Bursa Malaysia opened higher this morning, in line with the Wall Street’s better overnight performance.
At 9.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 4.21 points to 1,520.73 from Wednesday’s close of 1,516.52.
The index opened 2.48 points higher at 1,519.0.
Gainers outpaced losers at 233 versus 111, while 236 counters were unchanged, 1,664 untraded and 26 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 293.24 million units worth RM118.68 million.
