Disputes over palm oil

In early 2019, the EU adopted the Delegated Regulation for its second Renewable Energy Directive (RED II), which will phase out the use of palm oil as biofuel in Europe by 2030 because of environmental reasons.
Malaysia, the world s second-largest palm oil producer, opened a case against the EU using the World Trade Organization s Dispute Settlement Mechanism in January. So, too, has Indonesia, the world s largest palm oil producer.
Both Southeast Asian states, which have vowed to work together to oppose the EU s decision, claim Brussels is merely engaged in discriminatory and protectionist trade practices.
PETALING JAYA: The Covid-19 vaccination programme for the manufacturing sector will only start when there are enough vaccine supplies in the country, says Khairy Jamaluddin.
The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister said the programme being publicised by the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) has yet to begin.
“This programme will only commence when there are enough vaccines for the general public in phase three, not when vaccines are in short supply.
“If you look closely, this (sign-up) is just for expression of interest. This has not started, ” he said in a series of tweets on Friday (May 7).
HIs tweets were in response to comments and claims that a separate vaccination programme was being carried out especially for industries and companies.
