Muda appeals to minister for registration, keeps court option open

The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) will not appeal today s court dismissal of its legal bid as it has decided to appeal directly to Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin to be officially registered as a political party.
However, the fledgeling group is keeping the option of going to court again, depending on the minister s response to its appeal.

PUTRAJAYA: For Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, his experience with Covid-19 was definitely a painful one.
The Home Minister said he not only suffered from high fever and body aches, but also experienced painful headaches.
“My head hurt so much that it felt like it was exploding. The body aches made me feel weak.
“I don’t know how to describe the pain, but I felt it on every part of my body, ” he told the media yesterday.
Hamzah, who was admitted to hospital on Jan 12, said he took a longer time to recover as doctors found his liver enzyme level to be high.

The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) will not appeal against the Registrar of Societies (ROS) rejection of its application to be registered as a formal political party.
When contacted, Muda pro-tem committee member Lim Wei Jiet said the decision was made based on alleged statements by Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin, implying the outcome of any appeal against the Jan 6 rejection. The reason (to not appeal) was because the minister has already prejudged the issue (application), so there was no point for us to exhaust that (appeal) procedure.

Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin announced today that applications by the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) and Bersatu-splinter Pejuang to register as political parties were rejected due to their non-compliance with provisions under the Societies Act 1966.
Hamzah said the Registrar of Societies had, upon verifying documents submitted in both applications, found discrepancies with the requirements under Schedule 1 of the Act.
