Dec 14, 2020 The coronavirus is spreading among inmates at North Country prisons, with at least 77 confirmed cases between four facilities throughout the region.
Bare Hill Correctional Facility in Malone has the most confirmed cases, with 33 inmates testing positive as of Dec. 11. Bare Hill, as of this summer, housed an estimated 1,000 incarcerated people.
Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora has 28 active cases, according to testing data from the NYS Dept. of Corrections. The prison had 79 tests pending as of Dec. 11.
Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Washinton County, which had an outbreak earlier this summer, has at least 13 active cases among inmates.
