RAPID VALLEY, S.D. Herculano “Herky” Solano, a 30 year member of the Rapid Valley Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Rapid Valley Fire Protection District, and retired City of Rapid City employee, lost his home earlier this month after a fire.
On January 17, fire crews responded to a structure fire on the 1300 block of Ennen Drive and were able to extinguish it. The next morning, the fire reignited – presumably due to high wind conditions and unburned insulation that smoldered overnight – causing severe additional fire and smoke damage before once again being extinguished.
A relief fund has been set up in the Solano name at Black Hills Federal Credit Union to help assist Mr. Solano and his family after the loss of their home.
Black Hills FCU supports new pool complex for Pierre Area with donation
RAPID CITY, SD (December 14, 2020) Black Hills FCU is proud to contribute $10,000 to the City of Pierre pool complex project. The donation goes towards the $13 million effort to bring a modern outdoor pool complex to the city.
BHFCU felt it essential to contribute to this project both for Pierre’s residents and for the economic growth opportunity it presents for the city by pulling others from the region in for outdoor recreation.
“Having been aware of the discussion in Pierre for years, BHFCU felt it was imperative to make a significant contribution to such an important community project,” said Chris McConnell, Pierre Member Service Center manager. “I look forward to the day when I can enjoy the pool complex with my family and the rest of our community.”
