Hills Trust Housing, Govan A LANDMARK new housing development in Govan has been completed. Final tenants have been given the keys to their new homes and have moved into the £11 million development at Nethan Street. The homes have been built within sight of Govan Cross and bring much needed rented housing to the area. Gary Dalziel, Chief Executive of Elderpark Housing, said: “This is a hugely important development in terms of delivering much-needed rented housing for our community. “The houses and flats create a new Govan landmark and fulfil Elderpark’s commitment to keep on building rented homes for our community – a vision shared by our partners in this project.
Shirley McKnight and Terry Frew will say goodbye to colleagues at the Govan-based group this month. Shirley, who will leave her post as depute chief executive, joined Elderpark in 1986, and Terry, director of maintenance, joining the association in 1980. Shirley said: “Looking back your working life in many respects does go in in a flash. I joined Elderpark in 1986 and the years have simply flown in. It has been a very rewarding experience with the housing association. Shirley has a hand in helping to complete recent project such as the Hills Trust School restoration and a £15million development of new homes on Nethan Street.
