Former Mayor Sam Adams’ plan to revive Portland leans on community groups and public involvement to accomplish what City Hall hasn’t been able to do on its own.
“With the vaccines, people are going to be able to begin to safely go about their lives in normal ways,” Adams said following a meeting with small business leaders Thursday, “and they’ll have the ability to roll up their sleeves and pitch in and help bring the city back to full life and better than before.”
Man hurt in exchange of gunfire with officers after Corbett standoff

A man is in critical condition after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement officers in Corbett following a standoff with tactical teams.
A Multnomah County patrol deputy saw a driver speeding and traveling “erratically” on the Historic Columbia River Highway about 8:50 p.m. Friday and initiated a traffic stop, Sheriff Mike Reese said in a news conference Saturday afternoon.
The driver pulled over on East Knieriem Road, taking “longer than you would normally anticipate,” Reese said.
The driver, described as a white man in his 60s, immediately got out of the car with two guns, causing the deputy to take cover and call for support, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

The Multnomah County Sheriff s Office is asking anyone in the area with a home security system to check for suspicious activity.
Two men were shot and seriously wounded in Fairview late Saturday, March 13.
The names of the victims were not immediately released. No suspect information was available, either.
According to the Multnomah County Sheriff s Office, at 9:23 p.m. March 13, deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 2600 block of Northeast 205th Avenue in Fairview. When they arrived, the deputies located two adult male victims with gunshot injuries. Both victims were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
