Sheriffs, DEC, and Motorist Save Injured Hawk T he Otsego County Sheriff s Office posted this on their Facebook page.  Congratulations to all who came to the aid of this injured bird! Maureen Richter was traveling on I-88 in the Town of Oneonta when she observed an injured Red Tail Hawk and stopped to provide aid. Deputy Sheriff Koren was also on the Interstate and observed the stopped vehicle and pulled over to assist the motorist. Once Deputy Koren became aware of this situation he contacted Sergeant Stalter a licensed falconer and DEC Officer Card to assist with getting the hawk treatment.

The injured Red Tail Hawk was found by Maureen Richter, who had been driving along I88 when she observed the injured bird in the Town of Oneonta.  Deputy Sheriff Koren noticed Richter s vehicle pulled off on the side of road and stopped to see if she needed any assistance.
