Perrysville, OH(June 28, 2021) A report from Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) Ranger, Will Gordon confirmed that a 14-year-old boy from Mansfield, OH received medical intervention after being pulled from the swimming beach at Pleasant Hill Lake Park located in Perrysville, OH on Sunday, June 27 just after 2:00 p.m. A name has not been released until all family members have been notified.
The boy was swimming at the beach with family when he was reported missing. After a short search, he was recovered from approximately 33 inches of water. Nearby beach guests first began CPR which was then taken over by MWCD Rangers, and EMS. WhoaZone staff provided an AED which was administered on scene. He was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield. MWCD Rangers were notified by the Richland County Coroner s Office that the boy later died. MWCD Rangers continue to gather information relating to the incident.

In 1933, the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District was formed, covering 8,000 square miles, or 20%, of Ohio. We are stewards of more than 56,000 acres of land in eastern and southeastern Ohio and take very seriously our responsibility to preserve, conserve and manage our lands in a manner that ensures continued enjoyment and benefit to the residents who live within or enjoy the watershed.
A decade ago, the board of directors chose to permit leasing of land under our control for oil and gas exploration. The review process was robust and deliberate to ensure that MWCD and the region would benefit without compromising our mission or the resource. Since this decision, we have made every effort to ensure that if we did lease our lands, it would be to operators with excellent credentials and under lease terms that included enhanced operational and environmental provisions.
