I feel Woman Should Not Step Out in the Evening Alone : NCW Member on Badaun Gangrape Case   |  8 Jan 2021 8:33 AM GMT UTTAR PRADESH: National Commission for Women member Chandramukhi Devi made it to the headlines when she commented on the Uttar Pradesh s Badaun gangrape case. According to reports, Chandramukhi Devi visited the village where a 50-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped said the incident would not have happened had the woman not stepped out alone in the evening. I feel had the woman not stepped out in the evening, or one of her children had accompanied her, the incident would not have occurred , said the National Commission for Women member.

A panel of three doctors, including a woman doctor, performed the post-mortem. As per the report, the woman had serious wounds in her private part and there was severe blood loss. The report suggests she was hit by something heavy.  Badaun SSP Sankalp Sharma rushed to the site and formed a four-team to arrest the accused. The police have registered a murder case against three people in the matter on the behest of the victim s family.  The police are on the lookout for the accused Mahant Baba Satyanarayana, his disciple Vedram and driver Jaspal.   According to reports the woman had visited a temple in a nearby village on Sunday evening and had not returned. The accused left the woman s body outside her house on Sunday night at around 12 midnight.

As per reports, the three accused in the case, the temple priest and his two disciples, severely injured the woman s private parts by inserting a rod and killed her in the temple. The accused have been identified as Mahant Baba Satyanarayana, his disciple Vedram and driver Jaspal.The incident reportedly took place in Mewari village under Uighati police station. The Uighati police have already booked the three accused under IPC Sections 376-d (gang-rape) and 302 (murder).

Highlights Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi slammed the UP government and raised issues of police negligence and women s safety. In Badaun case, three people have been booked and one of the accused has been arrested. New Delhi: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi slammed the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath raising issues of police negligence and women s safety in the aftermath of the brutal Nirbhaya-like Badaun gang-rape case.  Taking to Twitter, the Congress leader wrote in Hindi: In Badaun, the police did not listen to the complainant, he (police officer) did not even visit the incident scene. The UP government has not shown a strong reslove towards women s safety issue.
