Friday marked a momentous occasion for Montgomery County Community College President Victoria Bastecki-Perez. While she was initially appointed to serve in the community collegeâs top leadership position nearly a year ago, it was made official Friday afternoon at the Blue Bell campus. âItâs really important during this time that we all come together, and I am leading this institution not only of mind, but with heart,â Bastecki-Perez told MediaNews Group.

As part of Montgomery County Community Collegeâs commitment to sustainability, MCCC celebrates Earth Day each year with free presentations to inform and educate students and the community about sustainable practices. To improve the tree canopy on the Blue Bell Campus, MCCC students and employees have been planting trees over the years and most recently planted 63 trees in 2019, seen here.

Two new Saturday-only clinics are opening in Montgomery County. (Renee Schiavone/Patch)
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA Despite being hit hard by the Johnson & Johnson pause this week, Montgomery County has been able to move forward with two new clinics.
The Saturday-only clinics will open up at locations in Pottstown and Spring House on April 17.
Both sites will be distributing first doses of the Pfizer vaccine. The county still has thousands of Pfizer doses in hand, so it s been able to continue to operate its clinics as health experts evaluate the safety of the single dose J&J vaccine.
NORRISTOWN â As the 58th week of the coronavirus pandemic in Montgomery County came to a close on Friday, health officials reported 288 additional county residents tested positive for the virus, which was the highest number of daily positive tests reported during the last week.
The 288 daily new positive COVID-19 cases reported in the county on Friday brought the countyâs total number of positive cases to 54,687 since March 7, 2020, when the first two cases of the virus were identified in the county. Four of the daily new cases were individuals who resided in long-term care facilities.
