A judge has issued a decree banning a Christian Texas judge from opening his courtroom proceedings in prayer, providing a legal victory to a prominent secular legal organization.Â
The Freedom from Religion Foundation, a Wisconsin-based nonprofit established to promote a strict separation of church and state, won a challenge to prohibit Judge Wayne Mack, a justice of the peace from an area north of Houston in Montgomery County, from opening his courtroom with non-mandatory chaplain-led prayer.Â
U.S. District Judge Kenneth Hoyt ruled on May 21 in favor of FRFF and anonymous local attorney âJohn Roe,â who has appeared in Mackâs courtroom at least 20 times and witnessed the chaplain-led prayers.Â

LAKE CONROE – Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office has called off a search for two boaters who went missing in Lake Conroe Friday evening.
Montgomery County Pct. 1 Captain Joe Sclider said five people went out on a boat in Lake Conroe to enjoy the sunset when a 26-year-old woman fell into the water. Her boyfriend jumped in to save her, according to Sclider. A third person also jumped in to help when the two began to struggle in the water.
Sclider said a nearby boat was able to rescue one of the three people in the water, but the two others remain missing.
Texas Driver Crashes Into Giant 10-Foot Long Alligator

In the wee hours of Thursday morning, one driver on the Grand Parkway East on Texas Highway 99 ran into a very rude awakening.
A colossus alligator, measuring in at over 10 feet, was hit by a vehicle on the 6450 block North just after 3 a.m. The driver suffered minor injuries while the crash proved fatal for the alligator. The driver suffered minor injuries, airbags deployed, and the alligator did not survive, Steve Squier from Montgomery County s Sheriff s Office confirmed to

The alligator was ultimately measured at 10-feet-3-inches in length, Squier said.
