bohara@leaderherald.com MINDEN A Fort Plain resident is facing arson and cruelty to animal charges after allegedly causing the fire that led to the death of his two cats. Adam J. Prime, 32, of 571 Salt Springville Road, Fort Plain was charged with third-degree arson, a felony, and aggravated cruelty to animals, also a felony, following an investigation into a structure fire at his home in which two cats died in the fire. According to a press release, on Saturday at about 6:46 a.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office dispatched the South Minden Volunteer Fire Department for reports of a structure fire at 571 Salt Springville Road. Once the fire chief determined the fire under control, the Montgomery County Fire Investigation Team was requested.

Porter man Nathan Carlin accused of stabbing 4 relatives at Porter home in custody after manhunt

Nathan Carlin fled barefoot in the woods after the stabbing, the Montgomery County Sheriff s Office said. Authorities responded to a home in the 23600 block of E. Heritage Oaks Drive in Porter on Tuesday, Jan. 19. When they arrived, deputies learned that four family members from the home had been stabbed by another family member identified as Carlin. The family told authorities Carlin stabbed them during an argument. The victims were said to have received multiple injuries and puncture wounds as a result. Authorities said the victims were a 61-year-old white female, a 38-year-old white female, a 23-year-old white female, and a 9-year-old white female. They were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition. The relationship between Carlin and the victims is not known.

William James Coffee, 48, was paid $9,000 as a down payment in April by a customer who wanted a 16-by-16-foot storage building constructed at their residence, according to court records obtained by Clarksville Now. By September, the records allege Coffee made “numerous delays, reschedules, extensions and excuses” as to why he had not started construction.

He allegedly took $9,000 from a customer to build a storage building last April that was never started. Sheriff s officials say the victim filed a complaint with the Commerce and Insurance Division of Consumer Affairs. It met the requirements for contractor fraud. Several other victims have come forward with similar complaints, saying Coffee took large sums of money for projects that either weren t started or were never finished.
