Floyd County woman buys bulletproof vests for Montgomery County K-9s
She bought them with the intent to give them to the Sheriff’s Office

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. – Two K-9s keeping us safe are now a bit safer themselves.
On Tuesday, Laurel Galaszewski and her husband, Barry Turner, of Pilot, donated two bulletproof vests to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Maxx, who is 2 years old, and Archin, who is 3 ½ years old, will receive the vests, which are made to stop 9mm rounds, as well as .357 Magnum bullets.
They are also both slash and stab-resistant.
The cost of both vests was $2,067.
(Grant) Montgomery County authorities report the arrest of a teenager on OWI charges.
The Montgomery County Sheriff s Office says deputies were called to the intersection of Highway 71 and 155th Street around 4:15 a.m. Sunday for a suspicious vehicle. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado. Following an investigation, authorities arrested 19-year-old Nicholas Freund on a charge of OWI second offense.
Freund was taken to the Montgomery County Jail pending further court proceedings.

Man, 25, killed in New Caney shooting, suspect arrested

A 25-year-old man was killed Friday night in a domestic dispute in New Caney, officials said.
The Montgomery County Sheriff s Office responded around 9 p.m. to the 23300 block of Forest Green Lane, where they found the man dead in the front yard with multiple gunshot wounds, said Sgt. Paul Hahs.
The suspected shooter was arrested and criminal charges will be filed, Hahs said.
Three children in the home during the shooting were not injured, he said.
While authorities were investigating the case, an allegedly intoxicated driver slammed into a detective s car that was parked on the road, Hahs said.
