AMSTERDAM - A man discovered bleeding on a sidewalk early Friday morning had been shot in the head, city police said.
The victim, 37, was in critical condition after being airlifted to Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Police said they received the call at 1:52 a.m. for a seriously injured man bleeding on the sidewalk on Hibbard Street between James and Reid streets. Amsterdam Police, State Police and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office determined he had suffered a gunshot wound to the head
Residents of the Fourth Ward can expect a continued police presence in the neighborhood throughout the day, a police statement said. City and State Police and the Montgomery County district attorney’s office are continuing the investigation, following all leads that are developed, looking for evidence and conducting interviews, officials said.
