The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has identified a deputy sheriff who fatally shot a man attacking him over the weekend in Laytonsville. Police say the man used a large piece of wood to attack the deputy.
Sgt. Frank Pruitt, an 18-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, shot 52-year-old Kevin Costlow on Saturday morning, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office on Tuesday morning.
County Sheriff Darren Popkin said previously that a man almost drove into one car Saturday morning on Olney Laytonsville Road (Md. 108), and front-ended another. The driver then used a large piece of wood to try to attack the people in the car he had hit, Popkin said on Saturday.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Justin Sawyer’s family arrived to a crowded parking lot at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Clarksville on Saturday. Friends, neighbors and strangers alike were ready to help with the search for the remains of the 20-year-old, who went missing Dec. 17 and is suspected to have been killed as part of a robbery gone wrong.
One of the searchers found a blanket that volunteers hope might bring clues to the body’s location.
The search party was coordinated on short notice. It was announced Wednesday by Sawyer’s aunt, Angela Belcher, after police investigators revealed they had exhausted their leads.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX â Authorities are searching for a man who allegedly reversed his pickup towards a sheriff s deputy during a traffic stop then took off.
Around 1:43 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, the Texas Department of Public Safety was conducting a traffic stop in the area of I-45 North and Rayford Road. Montgomery County Sheriff s Office deputies responded to assist.
The alert was canceled early Wednesday.

Kenneth Larry Reeves, 81, was last seen at 11 p.m. Monday in the 21600 block of Petty Drive.
Reeves has a cognitive impairment and his disappearance “poses a credible threat to his own health and safety,” according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
