Greg Scott seeks re-election as Norristown district court judge

NORRISTOWN — Born and raised in Norristown, incumbent District Court Judge Gregory Scott says he’s been honored to serve his community and he wants to continue “to advocate for equity within our justice system” with a second term. “I am proud of my work in and out of the courtroom. While we have accomplished a lot, there is more to do and I look forward to finishing my work as it relates to the Montgomery County Pre-Trial Services program and ensuring that we are not holding individuals in confinement unnecessarily,” Scott, 34, said recently as he announced his re-election bid during the May 18 primary election for district court judge in Montgomery County’s Magisterial District Court 38-2-09, which encompasses parts of Norristown Borough.

Montgomery County D A comfort dog, Turks, retires

NORRISTOWN — After spending seven years in the dogged pursuit of easing the distress of crime victims and other witnesses, Turks, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s comfort dog, is retiring. “She has some medical issues that she’s dealing with so at this point she’s retiring. The vet thought it was best that she not have the full workload that she otherwise sustains,” District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said recently. “I can’t underestimate the effect Turks has had on so many victims over such a long period of time. She has helped countless survivors of sexual assault, countless children to get through a very difficult process,” Steele added. “We’re down an important player our team right now and it’s going to have to be something we address as we go along.”
