Durban woman found with Sassa cards, ID documents and drugs

DURBAN - POLICE arrested a 50-year-old woman on charges of drug possession, possession of stolen property and contravention of the National Credit Regulation and Home Affairs acts during a raid in Birchwood Park, Mariannhill.
Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said police officers from the Provincial Organised Crime Unit went to execute a search warrant in Lobelia Road where they observed what was going on at the premises.
“The team stormed the premises and a search was conducted. A 50-year-old woman was found hiding drugs in a deep freezer. A total of 401 blue and white heroin capsules and 61 crack cocaine were found,” Mbele said.

A man accused of posting pictures of a woman on a sex website without her knowledge has been granted bail of R5 000.

Mohamed Fories Hoosen has appeared in the Durban Magistrate s Court on charges of criminal defamation, intimidation and extortion.
According to police, it was brought to the woman s attention in August last year that photos of her were on the site.
She also discovered she was receiving emails and messages on social media from men responding to the uploaded photos.
The woman says she was also inundated with unsolicited phone calls.

DURBAN â KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has commended detectives after Mohammed Vahed Ebrahim was sentenced for the murder of nine-year-old Miguel Louw.
Ebrahim, 46, will serve an effective sentence of 25 years in prison after he was sentenced in the Durban High Court on Wednesday.
Mkhwanazi said the SAPS remain committed to bringing justice to all victims of crime in the province.
âWe are glad that this heinous crime was solved and that the perpetrator will remain behind bars for a long time.â
