NFL star Rob Gronkowski and his youth foundation are donating $1.2 million to help restore a beloved playground in Boston. The funds will help renovate the Charlesbank Playground on the city s Charles River Esplanade and create a trust to maintain the property.
Gronkowski, 31, made the donation through his organization, the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation, which is dedicated to helping kids through sports, education, fitness and community development. The concept of this playground will be to motivate kids to be outdoors, get fit and have fun, Gronkowski said in a news conference Friday. I hope this playground inspires the next generation of athletes.

A year after the United States came under the grip of the coronavirus it should be clear that, no, the universal sacrifice from a pandemic did not bring the nation together as some suggested it might. It only made the nation more polarized politically and culturally.
Air travel in the US hit its highest mark since COVID-19 took hold more than 13 months ago, while European Union officials are proposing to ease restrictions on visitors to the continent as the vaccine rollout sends new cases and deaths tumbling in more affluent countries.
The improving picture in many locations contrasts with the worsening disaster in India.
In the US, the average number of new cases per day fell below 50,000 for the first time since October.
