BOSTON (
WBZ NewsRadio) Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker announced on Monday a total of nearly $49 million in grant funds that will be awarded to local and small businesses.
The funds come through the Covid-19 Small Business Grant Program, which was announced in October as part of the administration’s efforts to help people struggling financially during the pandemic, called Partnerships for Recovery.
Businesses that are receiving the aid include ones that are owned by women, veterans, people of color, people with disabilities and LGBTQ+ individuals. Through the grants we are announcing today, some of the hardest hit businesses and communities across Massachusetts will be able to cover a number of expenses, Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito said. Including payroll and benefits costs, mortgage interest, rent and utilities.

Baker Delivers Another Blow to Massachusetts Businesses [OPINION]
Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, not content with destroying thousands of businesses with his COVID-19 restrictions, is coming for the rest with a new regional gas tax in his quest to control the climate.
Baker has announced a Transportation and Climate Initiative with Rhode Island, Connecticut, and the District of Columbia to develop a cap-and-invest program. The goal is to reduce pollution from motor vehicles by raising new taxes to expand clean transit options and improve public health.
Baker had been in discussions for two years with the governors of a dozen East Coast states to form such a coalition, but in the end, only Rhode Island, Connecticut, and D.C. bought into the scam.
