Springfield’s health official and city councilors perplexed by the state’s fragmented data on vaccinations

“There’s so much we don’t know,” said Springfield’s Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris at the city council COVID-19 response committee meeting.
Springfield’s city councilors met on Tuesday via Zoom to discuss the data sent by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health on the numbers of those vaccinated in the city.
The state-run, super vaccination site at the Eastfield Mall submitted the numbers by zip code to the chair of the COVID-19 response team and Springfield City Councilor Jesse Lederman.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported an additional 1,788 confirmed COVID-19 cases Wednesday, bringing the statewide total to 543,696 since the start of the pandemic. State health officials also added 60 confirmed COVID-19-related deaths to the state's total, which is now 15,624.
