Baker to Ease Capacity Limits on Restaurants, Gyms, Other Businesses
Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker.
Gov. Charlie Baker announced he will ease capacity limits on Massachusetts restaurants, gyms and other businesses effective Monday.
Baker said he will increase the 25% capacity limit to 40% effective at 5 a.m. Monday based on recent declines in coronavirus hospitalizations and case counts. The 25% capacity limit has been in place since Dec. 26.
When the stricter capacity limits were announced, the seven-day average positive test rate was 5.94% and 1,991 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized. As of Wednesday, the positivity rate was 3.3% and 1,635 people were in hospitals for COVID-19 care. Baker said the state has seen positive trends in COVID-19 metrics since 2021 began.
Another mass COVID vaccination site opens in Massachusetts on Wednesday
Updated Feb 03, 2021;
The fifth mass coronavirus vaccination site in Massachusetts was set to open in Danvers on Wednesday.
The vaccination site at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Boston North Shore was scheduled to open for appointments in the morning, just two days after individuals 75 years and older were permitted to be vaccinated as the first priority group in the first part of the second phase of the state’s vaccine rollout.
The significant winter storm hampered the operations of one of the state’s other four vaccination sites, though: the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Roxbury. Providers at the location were expected to start vaccinating eligible individuals Monday. Instead, the site opened Tuesday.
Plans in place for vaccination program in Lakeville
Standard-Times
The release reads:
The Town of Lakeville has been actively engaged in responding to the COVID19 crisis for more than a year including being among the first in the area to stock up on supplemental PPE. This aggressive action has allowed the municipality to continue on with the delivery of services to our community without interruption.
As we enter into the vaccine phase of the COVID19 response, all Lakeville Town Departments and elected leadership stand united and coordinated in an effort to deliver a vaccine program to our residents, and we, too, share some of your concerns and frustrations on the vaccine supply issues. The Lakeville Vaccine Clinic program will begin when the vaccine is provided to the Town and will continue until there is no longer a need for the program. The Town’s plan includes compliance with the state’s phased program and will include vaccinating the most vulnerable Lakeville residents

Hospital administered 56 vaccines Monday
Four new COVID-19 cases Wednesday.
Updated 4:45 pm
COVID-19 vaccinations are underway at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. As of Monday, 56 individuals received the vaccine. Numbers were not yet available for Wednesday. The hospital is in phase two of the vaccine rollout. Phase two, which began on Feb. 1, includes individuals 75 years and older. Hospital patients can sign up through Patient Gateway. Non-hospital patients can fill out an attestation form from the state’s website. Visit mass.gov/lists/covid-19-vaccine-attestation-form-translations to access the form. After outrage over the complicated online sign-ups, Gov. Charlie Baker has promised to add a call center, but as of Wednesday he said it was coming “this week.”
