The Police Assisted Addiction & Recovery Initiative (P.A.A.R.I.), in partnership with the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, was awarded a $149,173 grant from the Washington/Baltimore HIDTA, the University of Baltimore, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Combating Opioid Overdose through Community-Level Intervention grant program.

Starting Monday, CVS Health will travel to roughly 2,000 long-term care facilities across the Bay State to vaccinate around 173,000 people, according to a statement from the company. Teams from Walgreens are also expected to administer doses at several locations. The federal government will supply the doses of the vaccine for use among residents and staff at long-term care facilities, a CVS spokesperson said. The virus has led to more than 330,000 deaths in the United States and has hit elderly demographics the hardest.
