With a substantial amount of financial support from the University of Baltimore, a nonprofit with roots in Gloucester will be able to further its efforts to prevent fatal overdoses through training for officers and community partners in both Massachusetts and Maine.
The Police Assisted Addiction & Recovery Initiative (P.A.A.R.I.), in partnership with the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, was awarded a $149,173 grant from the Washington/Baltimore HIDTA, the University of Baltimore, and the Centers for Disease Control and Preventionâs Combating Opioid Overdose through Community-Level Intervention grant program.

Dennis Holiday Lights winners
Eleven businesses and nonprofits and 21 residences entered the Dennis Chamber of Commerce s first Dennis Holiday Lights contest. Participants were asked to decorate their location, business or residence for a safe holiday event. Over 2,800 votes were cast during the voting period.
Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty office on 6A in Dennis won the business category. They will receive a half-page ad in the Dennis Chamber of Commerce 2021 guidebook ($1,200 value) and a chamber membership for a year.

CVS, Walgreens to start administering Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccines at Massachusetts long-term care facilities this week

More than 150,000 residents of long-term care facilities in Massachusetts are expected to soon receive their coronavirus vaccines, officials said.
Starting Monday, CVS Health will travel to roughly 2,000 long-term care facilities across the Bay State to vaccinate around 173,000 people, according to a statement from the company. Teams from Walgreens are also expected to administer doses at several locations.
The federal government will supply the doses of the vaccine for use among residents and staff at long-term care facilities, a CVS spokesperson said.
The virus has led to more than 330,000 deaths in the United States and has hit elderly demographics the hardest.
