DEERFIELD After months of contentious debate, the Zoning Board of Appeals approved a special permit with conditions Wednesday night for the proposed development of a Dollar General store on Routes 5 and 10, at the intersection of Mill Village Road. However, other town boards have yet to weigh in on the proposal.

Starting Sunday, exit signs on Route 128 will look a little different to North Shore drivers. (Massachusetts Department of Transportation)
DANVERS, MA Exit signs along the North Shore are getting a new look next week.
As part of the state s move to milepost-based signs, the Route 128 corridor from Gloucester and Peabody will be switched out starting Sunday. Signs will be replaced in both directions.
The sign installation operations will take place from 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. each day with the process expected to take eight nights.

The work was delayed from earlier this week because of the snowstorm.

NORTHAMPTON A total of 579 pages of comments were submitted about a controversial roundabout project through a state public comment period that was officially open for about two weeks before the state called it off early.
Those letters are now available to the public as part of a new Massachusetts Department of Transportation public information platform about the project.
MBTA, MassDOT launch study to extend Somerville service

The MBTA and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation recently announced the launch of the Silver Line Extension Alternatives Analysis to assess the feasibility, utility, and cost of various alignment and service frequency options for extending Silver Line service to Everett, Somerville, Cambridge and Boston.
“We’re excited to collaborate with MassDOT on this analysis of Silver Line service,” said MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak. “Studying the extension of the Silver Line to Everett and beyond is a key objective of Focus40 and an important step in improving service to essential workers and transit-critical populations that live far from the Orange and Blue Lines and rely on bus service to get to work and other destinations.”
