Zegler, the Clifton actress who plays Maria in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming 2021 version of “West Side Story,” has been cast in “Shazam: Fury of the Gods,” the sequel to the 2019 DC superhero movie “Shazam!” The Wrap reports. Zachary Levi plays Shazam, the lightning-chested superhero in the movies, but Billy Batson, played by Asher Angel, is the boy behind the man. When the teen says “Shazam!” he transforms into the musclebound superhero. David F. Sandberg, who directed first film, will also direct the sequel.
