bcox@lewistownsentinel.com LEWISTOWN One man has been arrested and charged with shooting another man several times during a fight Wednesday night in Lewistown Borough. Lewistown Police Department said during a fight, 21-year-old Victor M. Guzman-Ortega, of Lewistown, withdrew his 9mm handgun from his waistband and fired 10 shots, striking 20-year-old Trevor T. Taylor, also of Lewistown, several times. According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by police, Guzman-Ortega told investigators he and a friend had been “jumped from behind” by Taylor and one of Taylor’s friends while walking along Valley Street just after 8 p.m. Wednesday and that Guzman-Ortega’s friend had prior issues with Taylor and his friend.

From staff reports LEWISTOWN A man who police say has had nine DUIs was found unresponsive last week in a vehicle in Derry Township containing several high-caliber firearms, according to a press release from Mifflin County Regional Police Department Police said they were dispatched to 406 Yale St. where EMS personnel discovered a male unresponsive and behind the wheel of a 1998 Toyota 4-Runner in an area where several children were playing and there were several bystanders. As the man, later indentified as Rodney L. Miller, of 108 Spring St. in Lewistown, became alert once more, he tried to exit the vehicle while it was moving and still in gear before being placed into park.

MEDIA — A 31-year-old Wallingford man has been arrested for allegedly supplying a fatal dose of the powerful synthetic opioid fentanyl that killed a 16-year old girl in July. William Michael Gabe is facing charges of drug delivery resulting in death, involuntary manslaughter and delivery of a controlled substance, all felonies, as well as misdemeanor charges of tampering with evidence, reckless endangerment and corrupting the morals of a minor, District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer announced Friday. “This is a heart-breaking case involving the death of a very young woman and a defendant who knowingly and intentionally gave her the poison that killed her,” said Stollsteimer in a release. “This prosecution makes clear that when we can prove that an individual distributed the drugs that resulted in an overdose death, that individual will be charged with murder.”
