Ferguson Drive, before considering any additional action against the business, including revoking its liquor license. The bar was the subject of a raid when Alton police executed a search warrant there on Dec. 23. As a result of the raid, which led to several arrests, building inspectors deemed the structure “uninhabitable” and closed it down. “I spoke to Chief (Brad) Wells yesterday,” Mayor Cheryl Maguire said Wednesday. “They’re still following through with investigations.”

Maher, 36, of Alton, was charged Dec. 30 with unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, a Class 3 felony; and unlawful possession of methamphetamine, both Class 3 felonies. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. According to court documents, on Dec. 29 Maher was found to be in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine, and was carrying an SCCY 9mm pistol while having a prior felony conviction for unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

The incident happened on Nov. 20, when police identified Branch from a surveillance video of a theft at a local CVS. Alton police came to his home and he tried to run away. While an officer was trying to arrest him, Branch punched him in the face, the state s attorney s office said.

Alton Police Chief Marcos Pulido said that, at about 7:30 a.m., Alton Police detectives with the assistance of ILEAS Special Response Team executed a drug-related search in the 1000 block of Alton Pointe. “This drug related search warrant was a result of several complaints of possible illegal drug activity occurring at a specific apartment in the Alton Pointe apartment complex,” Pulido said Alton Police narcotics detectives conducted an investigation in which they were able to develop probable cause that illegal drugs were being dealt at a specific apartment, according to Pulido
