EDWARDSVILLE The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office has filed paperwork to seize $1,500 cash taken from two Alton men as a result of a drug-related search and traffic stop Dec. 22.
Malik S. Carter, 26, had been charged with multiple felonies related to the incident, which began when Alton police executed a search warrant at his apartment in the 1000 block of Alton Pointe. Police were at the scene when Carter allegedly drove up, saw the police activity, and fled.
Carter and another man were quickly taken into custody. The second man has not been charged as of Jan. 5.

ALTON Alton Police on Tuesday morning executed a drug search warrant that led to a short chase and the apprehension of a suspect.
Alton Police Chief Marcos Pulido said that, at about 7:30 a.m., Alton Police detectives with the assistance of ILEAS Special Response Team executed a drug-related search in the 1000 block of Alton Pointe.
“This drug related search warrant was a result of several complaints of possible illegal drug activity occurring at a specific apartment in the Alton Pointe apartment complex,” Pulido said

A 26-year-old Alton Man is facing a slew of felonies after his arrest Tuesday morning. Malik S. Carter is charged with two counts of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and single counts of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance Within 500 Feet of a Church, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Weapons by a Felon, and Aggravated Fleeing / Attempting to Elude.
Carter was taken into custody after a brief pursuit that began near an apartment in the 1,000 block of Alton Pointe. Police were executing a drug-related search warrant when Carter allegedly drove up, saw the police activity, and fled. Carter is currently on parole from the Centralia Correctional Center for 2014 convictions of Home Invasion and Armed Robbery.

Malik S. Carter, 26, was charged Wednesday with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance while located within 500 feet of a church, a Class 1 felony; unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, a Class 1 felony; unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, a Class 2 felony; unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, a Class 3 felony; aggravated fleeing/attempting to elude, a Class 4 felony; and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony.
