Madison opening $34 million elementary school in the fall, even as redistricting shuffles students

Madison City Schools is preparing to open a new elementary school in the fall. But with that expansion comes new zoning that could result in school shuffling for families.
Midtown Elementary School – a 128,000 square foot facility located on Wall-Triana Highway – is set to open in time for the next school year. The $34 million building will replace West Madison Elementary School, built at its current location in 1953. West Madison, currently home to some 420 students grades K-5, will be repurposed as a new Pre-K building.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Madison County Schools received some good news this week! Madison County Schools teacher wins state award
School Superintendents of Alabama picked Stephenie Smith, an Instructional Coach at Sparkman Middle School, to receive one of four statewide scholarships to help fund her graduate education.
Smith is currently working on her Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Alabama.
“We appreciate the passion and hard work that Mrs. Smith puts into everything she does. She always goes above and beyond for our students and teachers and it is so wonderful to see her being rewarded for her excellence, stated Jennifer Whitt, Principal, Sparkman Middle School.
