Pursuing second year B.Sc Mathematics, Arya comes from a humble background. Her father – an electrician – and mother – an LIC agent, did their best to raise their daughter by encouraging her in politics. Having won from Mudavanmugal ward as CPI (M) candidate, Arya had defeated her nearest opponent Sreekala (UDF) by a majority of 2872 votes. Arya is serving as State President of Bala Sangham and as state office bearer of CPM’s student wing SFI (Student Federation of India).

SFI members stage a protest in Guwahati on Tuesday
GUWAHATI: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI), the left wing students’ body affiliated to CPM, and the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth wing of the party, jointly staged protests across the state on Tuesday slamming the BJP-led coalition government for “not fulfilling its promise to generate five lakh jobs per year”.
“This BJP government has failed to keep its promise to give jobs to unemployed youths and have, therefore, taken away their right to live with dignity.
