Student Union President and Vice President discuss goals for next year
The Student Union President and Vice President for the 2021-2022 academic year are Krupa Sourirajan ’23 and Courtney Thrun ’22. Elections were held on April 7, with a record-breaking amount of student participation, according to an email sent to the Brandeis community by Student Union Secretary Alex Park ’23.
“I want students to know that our platform will forever be a work in progress,” Thrun wrote in an email to The Hoot. “We designed it with the expectation of new problems arising, and the hope that students will communicate with us what they want/need to make their Brandeis experience as enjoyable as possible.”

Students of the Kwara State University (KWASU) in Malete, Kwara State, on Monday, protested the 300 per cent hike of their hostel exemption fee from N5,000 to N20,000.
The fee is mandatory for fresh and final year students who opt not to reside in the school’s N65,000 per year hostel facility.
The controversial levy is also a prerequisite for the ongoing registration of courses for the semester.
The students occupied the entrance point of the school, which was under lock, in large numbers on Monday.

It has been some two months since the alarm was sounded in the Edmonton Journal’s opinion page concerning the University of Alberta’s planned May demolition of the four remaining Ring Houses.
Since February, 2,455-plus members of the public have signed a petition urging the U of A to press pause on the demolition proposal for one year. And signatures keep coming in. What is the harm in asking for a year’s delay? None. This would allow these historic homes to be professionally assessed and evaluated for repurposing as was done in 1970 for Rutherford House, at the time up for demolition by the U of A.
